Family Mediation in Munich & Rosenheim

When family hurts – find new ways forward

Turning conflict into understanding

Conflict within a family leaves deep marks. It can weigh heavily on the heart, and answers often seem far away. Whether it is about fairness between siblings or different branches of the family, disputes over an inheritance or conflicts between generations – every conflict is unique and calls for its own solutions.

As your family mediator

I am your impartial mediator from outside your family system and help you, with empathy, to understand your own view and each other’s more fully. My task is to get you talking to each other again – or talking differently. The aim is to clear up misunderstandings and discover new perspectives. Different views can stand side by side – nobody has to be proven wrong. All relevant questions, uncertainties and worries have their place, and they are heard and taken seriously.

Areas of family mediation

Family mediation covers a range of situations, which in practice often overlap.

between parents and their children
in communities of heirs

Sibling mediation

Why family mediation?

Within a family, mediation is a supportive and de-escalating way of settling personal matters. My professional stance – equally close to every member of the family, without taking sides – helps prevent insurmountable rifts between family members.

The mediation process

  1. Initial consultation: We start with a free session to understand your family situation, concerns and goals.
  2. Mediation agreement: Together we agree on how we will work together and everyone’s commitment to the mediation process.
  3. Gathering information: You share your perspectives and bring in relevant topics and background information.
  4. Structured mediation sessions: Guided conversations bring underlying values and preferences to light, explore solution options and build mutual understanding.
  5. Solutions & follow-up: An agreement that documents everything salient in a clear and fair way.

Frequently asked questions

Which issues can family mediation address?

Inheritance disputes, conflicts between siblings, misunderstandings between generations and relationship crises.

How does family mediation work?

We begin with a free session to understand your family situation, concerns and goals. We then agree together on how we will work, gather topics and perspectives, and work out solutions in structured sessions, which are put in writing.

How much does family mediation cost?

My hourly rates depend on the type of mediation and on the means of the people involved. For a classic divorce mediation with two people, for example, I charge €150 per hour plus VAT. For non-profit clients and people on a low income, my rate is considerably lower; for mediations with many participants, it is somewhat higher. The initial consultation is free of charge.

Can the mediation be held in English?

Yes. Sessions can take place in English or German – and if one of you is more comfortable in German and the other in English, we can find a way that works for both of you.

How long does mediation take?

It depends on the situation and context. As a rule, it takes several sessions of 90 minutes. Depending on complexity and urgency, I also offer half-day, full-day and weekend mediations. You set the pace – together with our calendars.

Can mediation take place online?

Yes. I work with couples and families in person in Munich (Maximiliansplatz 9) and Rosenheim/Bruckmühl (Am Bruckfeld 10), or online via video call.

Why mediation rather than going to court?

It is faster, less expensive, less stressful and confidential – and it makes fair, mutually agreed solutions possible. In court, a judge decides who is right; in mediation, you decide together what is right for you. I am not a lawyer myself: for legal questions – about inheritance, compulsory portions, maintenance or divorce – I work with experienced family and inheritance lawyers and am happy to put you in touch (my network).

Can mediation and therapy be combined?

Yes. Mediation focuses on the decisions you need to make – and feelings have their place in it, because they are often the key to a good solution – while therapy goes deeper into emotional and interpersonal processes. The two approaches can complement each other well.
