Mediation & Conflict Resolution in Munich & Rosenheim

A warm
welcome –

as a mediator, I offer you a space in which I support you in finding your own solution to your conflict. I accompany you through critical and conflict-laden situations – especially when emotions are running high and everyone’s positions have become entrenched or seem impossible to change. Sessions are held in English or German.

In my role as a mediator

I am a professional, impartial mediator who stands equally by each of you in conflicts of all kinds. I do not decide who is right – I help you understand your conflict and make your own decisions together. I look forward to meeting you for a free introductory conversation about the possibilities, opportunities and benefits of mediation for resolving your conflict.

My areas of focus

Between siblings, parents and their children & among heirs

In cases of relationships in crisis and big decisions as a couple

Settling separation and divorce amicably – with one lawyer instead of two

Conflicts in the workplace

Generational change & handing over to the next generation (usually conducted in German)

Mediation usually leads to faster and more lasting results than going to court or leaving your conflict unresolved.

Mediation is generally less expensive than other methods, too. It is committed to the ideas of understanding rather than pressure to persuade, respect, fairness, honest engagement and practical solutions for the future. Mediation suits people who want to make decisions themselves rather than hand them over to a judge or to lawyers.

How does mediation work?

I offer a free initial consultation – to help you decide whether mediation is the right path for you. In it, I describe in more detail how I work, you briefly describe your situation and we decide together how mediation can be set up for you.

Eisberg-Modell der Mediation: Unter den sichtbaren Positionen liegen die eigentlichen Interessen
1. Mediation agreement

We agree together on a framework for how we will work together in your mediation.

2. Identifying topics

You name the topics that matter to you; together we describe your disagreement in a way that leaves room for each of your views and gather relevant information.

3. Values & needs

We look beneath your positions at what really matters to each of you – your values and needs.

4. Developing & negotiating options

You first collect different options for a solution freely, without judging them, then discuss them and check them against what matters to each of you.

5. Final agreement

Towards the end, an agreement is drafted on the basis of the solution you have chosen together.

What does a mediation cost?

My hourly rates depend on the type of mediation and on the means of the people involved. For a classic divorce mediation with two people, for example, I charge €150 per hour plus VAT. For non-profit clients and people on a low income, my rate is considerably lower; for mediations with many participants, it is somewhat higher. For a sample cost calculation, read my guide article (in German). Or work out your own divorce costs with my divorce cost calculator.

Frame 72 1

How long does a mediation take?

The length of an entire mediation from start to finish depends on your specific situation. As a general rule, it takes several sessions (at least four) of typically 90 minutes. Depending on the complexity and urgency of the situation, I also offer half-day, full-day and weekend mediations. You set the pace – together with our calendars.

Principles of mediation

What mediation asks of everyone involved

Voluntary participation of all parties to the conflict – anyone can end the mediation at any time.
Disclosure of all facts relevant to the issue at hand – so that every decision you make is an informed one.
Confidentiality of everyone involved. This also applies if the mediation fails and the matter later goes to court – mediators have the right to refuse to testify.
Priority of mediation – no parallel proceedings are started, and relevant court proceedings are suspended or ended.
Room for disagreement – it is fine to disagree clearly and to feel tension. Disagreement shows us what needs to be resolved.
